Public Works Department (PWD)

Shamong Township is recognized for the high quality of its Public Works Department. Dedicated and hard working, each member of this team does a tremendous job in keeping our town running smoothly during normal business hours and beyond. Whether it's keeping up with the maintenance at our recreational facilities or keeping the roads clear during a winter snowstorm, this exceptional group is second to none!

Please report downed trees or branches blocking Township roads to the  Clerk's office immediately: (609)268-2377 x304 or x301

Proper Leaf Disposal

Please Note the Township does not provide a leaf pick-up service … plan for the proper disposal of your leaves by:

  • Keeping leaves and grass out of storm drains and easement ditches.
  • Start a compost pile on your property.
  • Contact a local landscaper to dispose of leaves for you.
Our Public Works Department works diligently to ensure our streets are well maintained. Please assist them as you are able by making sure the local storm drains are not blocked by leaves and debris.  Your efforts will also serve your neighbors by greatly reducing the possibility of street flooding due to the build-up of leaf and yard debris. This effort will also help the Township of Shamong meet the recently adopted NJ Department of Environmental Protection Stormwater Management Plan.  As a result of NJ-DEP's efforts, Shamong Township has recently adopted several State mandated ordinances, including one related to Yard Waste Collection Program, which limits yard waste that is not containerized at the curb or along the street.  Person(s) found to be in violation of the provision or the ordinance shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $100.  If you need additional information on this ordinance, please contact the Clerk's office at (609)268-2377 x301.
